How to avoid cracking when bending aluminum sheet?

The cracking of aluminum plate after bending generally has the following factors:
1) Hardness of aluminum plate
The aluminum sheet is too hard and cracks easily. For example, 6061,2024, 7075 aluminum plate, not good for bending, forced bending will crack. Therefore, it is better to choose aluminium alloy 1, 3, 5 series, which are softer.
2) Thickness of aluminum plate
Even if the hardness is not high, but if the aluminum plate is too thick, it is not easy to bend.
3) Direction of aluminum plate texture
Bending direction should be perpendicular to the rolling direction of aluminum plate, not parallel.
4) The size of bending Angle R
The larger the bending R Angle, the easier it is to bend, so try to increase the bending R Angle, the bigger the easier it is to bend, the less easy it is to crack.
It is an good idea to choose a suitable aluminium alloy plate, first of all, from the brands of aluminum alloy can achieve hardness, generally 7>2>6>5>3>1, that is, 7 series hardness is higher, so the general bending brand is basically soft aluminum 1, 3, 5 series, more representative of 1060, 3003, 5052 and other alloys.Secondly, The temper of aluminium also affects the hardness of aluminium, temper O and H111 will be softer and easier to bend.
In fact, in most cases, aluminum plate both need to bend, also need to have a certain strength, too soft although easy to bend but it is not appropriate for other requirement.
Here is often used 3003-H24/H112, 5052-O state /H32/H112 and so on. In general, if the R Angle is a little larger, the slightly harder aluminum plate can also be bent. Therefore, according to the needs of industrial design, considering the machinability, beauty, strength and durability and other factors, choose the appropriate aluminum alloy, bend R Angle appropriate adjustment, get a balance value.
